Once a bankruptcy case is filed, a creditor meeting is held in which the creditors and bankruptcy trustee overseeing the case can ask questions about the debtor’s financial situation. This meeting of creditors is required by Bankruptcy Code section 341(a). If you are an individual filing for bankruptcy, you will be required to attend the creditor meeting and you may have an attorney present at the meeting.
